The remanufactured ink cartrige was the brainchild of some clever fellow (not sure exactly who it was) with a nose for grand inventions. A remanufactured ink cartrige is essentially a worn out, empty ink cartrige refilled in a shop, tested, and shipped as a replacement cartrige for virtually any computer printer. Remanufactured printer cartriges have flooded the market. Prices are generally much lower when compared to the oem printer cartriges. Past experience has left Johnny Cartrige wondering if remanufactured cartriges are a good value at all. One notable benefit to the remanufactured variety of cartriges is that they are essentially recycled ink cartriges. Any time we can reduce waste in the world's landfills is worthwhile. This may answer the question many people ask themselves about these "bring in your old ink cartriges" type drives we see at our schools, local retail stores, etc. These empty ink cartriges are them sold to various printer cartrige recyclers to be cleaned, refilled, and resold.
Advantages of using remanufactured ink cartriges end at the price. The low purchase price is about the only advantage you will find regarding these recycled printer cartriges. The ink contained within the cartriges is supposedly compatible for specific printers, yet the ink usually performs more like a universal ink. Remanufactured cartriges have a tendancy to clog as well. Vendors more often than not do offer a guarantee on their ink products which is somewhat of a comfort, but does the consumer really want to have to worry about returning ink cartriges, or do they just want to print something from their computer and move on with their life. Printing shouldn't be a headache or hassle. Most indivduals will need to ask themselves if the value price is really a value after all.
The price however, is why we see the remanufactured ink cartriges do so well. A recycled and refilled printer cartrige can cost as much as seventy percent less than an oem ink cartrige. Bargain hunters sometimes are taken by this huge difference in price with regard of print quality. The amount of pages printed can also suffer in these used and rebuilt printer cartiges. This is a disadvantage that is difficult to prove without actually printing off pages and counting but it is definitely something to consider. Johnny still leans toward the oem printer cartriges even if the pruchase price is substantially higher. The ultimate decision for you, of course, is your own preference.
Sincerely,
Johnny Cartrige.
